In the Oven: Chocolate Chip Marble Cake
Chocolate Chip Marble Cake it is for Valentine's Day. And, of course, drizzled with chocolate syrup and decadent red hearts.
I was debating what to bake this year but figure I can't go wrong with chocolate & cake.
Ingredients:
Vanilla cake mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs
3/4 cup miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup chocolate syrup
1 container of vanilla frosting
Mix cake batter like usual. Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips into the remaining cake batter. Stir.
Reserve 1/2 cup cake batter. Pour remaining cake batter into heart-shaped pan. Add chocolate syrup to the 1/2 cup cake batter on reserve. Stir.
Drop tablespoons of the now-chocolatey cake batter into the pan in mounds. Using a knife, cut through batter in an 'S' shape. Turn pan 1/4 and repeat.
Bake 35 minutes.
Cool completely. Add frosting. Serve.
BON APPETIT.

J'adore thin, gold rings
I like rings in general, but these thin rings make the hand look so good. Even the most not-so-pretty hands, if you know what I mean. The Oui ring is so unique! I have never seen one like this before and I want one for Christmas. You can take the simplest thing with words on it, and write the words in french and I fall in love.

Eight happiness tips
1. Boost your energy
Stand up and pace while your on the phone, do a set of 10 jumping jacks or go for a 10-minute brisk walk outside.
2. Reach out to friends
Plan a coffee date with a close friend or send an e-mail to a friend you haven't seen in while.
3. Cross a nagging task off your to-do list
Call to make that dentist appointment, answer that difficult e-mail or go to the store to purchase that one needed item.
4. Create a calmer environment
Clean out your desk and throw away unneeded documents, organize important ones and if you are going to have piles, at least make them look neater.
5. Create the foundation to future fun
Purchase that book that you've been dying to read, plan a weekend to the museum, a dodger game or simply the beach.
6. Do a good deed
Help someone you know get ahead in some way, give a compliment or donate food items to your local shelter.
7. Act happy
Put a smile on your face even if you are faking it because just the motions of smiling boosts your mood in some way.
8. Listen to your favorite tunes
Go ahead, turn up the volume and dance your heart out...

Touched
Bless those ‘good-hearted’ people in this world. And of course, my adamant determination to people-watch and be aware of my surroundings. Well, most of the time.
The other day, I was blown away by this man at Trader Joes. A young man, about late-twenty-something, was walking out of the store to the parking lot with me, hands full of groceries and his iPod plugged into his ears.
As I stopped to catch my keys and chase my receipt that escaped me, this man bolted out into the street after my receipt as it flew away from me. So nice of him, right?
But what he did next is what blew me away. As he continued to his car, he pulled out a couple of those ready-made meals that Trader Joes sells from his brown bags and placed them on a crate that was on a large blanket placed next to the parking lot(it was clear somebody was living here.)
The best part was there was not a person in sight, not even the homeless person who lives on that blanket. But this young man clearly was not looking for anything in return, not even a 'thank you.' Bless him!
It is people like that man who touch my heart! Now, next time I go to Trader Joes, I'm going to follow his deed and buy an extra ready-meal just for that man on the corner.
